Kyle,
Thank you for the update. It sounds like you are really doing well and will be to 1,500 before you know it.
Good plan on setting that money aside.

Update
My time as an ATP flight instructor has come to an end. As I am approaching 900TT, I have accepted a conditional job offer to fly the PC-12 for Tradewind as an FO. My time at ATP has been nothing short of amazing. From my time as a student to becoming an instructor, I have learned so much and am extremely proud of my students whom I have taught. My students grinded it out and put in the hard work which gave me the confidence in them to endorse them for their checkrides, which has led to a 9 for 9 pass rate. I am more proud of my pass rate than my actual checkride passes. I have found instructing to be extremely fulfilling and have found joy in teaching. I wish nothing but the best for everyone and am super thankful for ATP for providing me with the tools to succeed in this career.
Thank you to all the mentors on here for providing me with guidance and leadership throughout my 2 years. I look forward to sharing my journey as I proceed into the next step of my career with Tradewind!
Kyle,
Congratulations on the new position, the PC-12 looks like a fun airplane to fly!
Thank you for updating us, please continue to do so as you progress through your career.
Congrats again.
Chris
Congrats Kyle!
Sounds like you’re well on your way!

Kyle,
Congrats on the PC-12 gig at Tradewind. I know a few friends I met through ATP that went to fly a Pilatus for companies like Tradewind that really enjoy(ed) it. This is fantastic and I look forward to see your updates from your position at Tradewind.
Get some TPIC time, it will be important if this hiring slow down hangs in there for a while.

Kyle,
Awesome!! This is a great way to continue to grow your skills as a pilot and build upon your resume. I hope you enjoy flying the PC-12. It’s an incredible airplane.
Hannah
Thanks everyone!
Congrats on your conditional job offer! That’s outstanding. I am currently in LE myself and I am seriously considering to switch careers to the aviation field. I was just wondering is it a big change from LE to being a full time pilot? There are some schools I’m considering and ATP is my top three. Any advice I would much appreciate on how the transition was for you and anything that might help me on this change for me? Thank you
If you have the determination and drive to put your head down for a year and get your ratings then ATP will be your best option. Make sure you have a strong support system and your finances down before making this leap. You will have no time to really do much of anything else. Dedicate 8-12 months of hard work and studying and do well in training and you’ll succeed.
Thank you so much for the advice
Kyle,
First, thanks for your service! I was curious, what was the hardest part of the transition from police to a pilot for you? I am a 32 year old, 6 year police officer looking to do the same!
Thanks!
Christian,
I think the hardest part was making the financial commitment. Giving up a pension and pretty stable contract was the scariest thing going into flight training knowing that nothing is 100%. The market is constantly changing so it was a gamble I took on myself. Fear of failure was real which enabled me to really buckle down and get through my training. Just do well in training with minimal Checkride failures and you’ll get a job with atp instructing, as long as there is a need for instructors at the specific location you’d wish to teach at. Be a good person and good teacher and the ball is in your court. Take an intro flight and see if it’s something worth doing. Reach out with any further questions!

Checkride complete on the PC-12NG! Excited to start my career with Tradewind, I’ll be based out of KHPN.
Congrats! Sexy cockpit!

Congrats and awesome shots Kyle! The Pilatus looks like a fun bird to fly, enjoy!
Brady
Congratulations! That looks like a really interesting airplane to fly. Thank you for the update.
Congrats Kyle!
I’ve always wanted to fly a Pilatus. It seems like an incredibly versatile aircraft. Enjoy!

Kyle,
Did you get the single pilot type or will you be working it in a crew configuration? I’ve flown in and out of white plains many times. It’s a fun airport!
Hannah
Yup will be a crew environment! Thanks everyone!
