Aviation and College

Hi! I’m a 16-year old from the rural Midwest. I’m very interested in aviation and maybe becoming an FO, but I’m not sure where to start. My goal is to get my bachelor’s in environmental or systems engineering at U of M, but I also would like to be an airline pilot as soon as I can. Is there a way to balance college, and getting all the necessary licensing and experience at the same time so I could start my career as soon as possible? Thanks!

Lucy,

Hello Lucy,

If you attend an aviation university, yes. You will be able to earn your degree and licensing at the same time. We’re not fans of aviation universities though. Too expensive. Your decision though.

Spend some time on the forum for answers. I recommend starting in the FAQ section. Lots of good stuff in there that I think you will find helpful.
