Can You Be a Commerical Pilot With A R-ATP

Hello everyone,

If you have a degree in aviation from college and a R-ATP, are you allowed to fly as a first officer for the regionals? Or do you need to gain 250 more hours to start working at the regionals?

If you have an R-ATP you are allowed to fly as a Regional pilot. An aviation degree has nothing to do with your ability to fly for a Regional. IF you did your flight training as part of an approved aviation degree program you may be eligible for a reduction in hours for your R-ATP but again that has zero to do with your ability to get hired and fly for a Regional.

Thanks for the response Adam.
