Career Options within the Airline Company

Hello,

Hypothetically, after finishing flight school, working through the regionals I finally arrive at the majors and begin my career as a pilot there. Unfortunately, something happens that hampers my ability to continue as a pilot for the airline. Is it possible (or common)to start working for the airline in some capacity? There must be a variety of jobs out there. Off the top of my head, I was thinking creating and managing flight schedules or any other job?

Thanks

Theodore,

Airlines are major corporations and there are jobs available in many fields. Everything from dispatch and scheduling to customer service and advertising. HR, IT, marketing, pretty much anything you can think of. It really depends on your skill set and educational background. Since most of us only know one thing (flying da plane), it’s most common for retired or dequaled pilots to go into training or flight operations.
