Celebrity on a plane

I’m wondering how could I get hired by company that works for celebrities. I mean a lot of famous people are traveling by planes (some of them even owe a plane) and do I have to be really close to them to fly that planes? Just imagine for example being a captain who flies a plane with Beyoncé on board… It sounds pretty awesome

Soonsa,

Like any other gig in aviation you need to build experience and a resume then seek that kind of work. I actually have a very close friend who did that for years before he retired. Two things to keep in mind, 1) at most of these jobs talking (even looking in some cases) to the celebs will mean immediate dismissal and 2) some are very nice but others are very not nice. I always say do the type of flying you like but if you have visions of partying with Beyonce’ and Jay-Z you’d be better off learning to rap or doing hair.

Soonsa,

Most of those types of jobs go to companies like NetJets or Flex Jets. The training requirements are exactly the same, just at some point in your career you would apply there instead of to a major airline. You would likely need to work several years at a regional airline first.

I have to tell you, most of us have zero desire to fly Beyonce Knowles or any other celebrity. The stories of obnoxious celebrity behavior that I have heard are enough to make me cringe. Plus, corporate pilots also tend to work longer days, for significantly less pay and with very little job security.

Thank you Adam and Chris for your replies.
I’m not really interested in working for celebrities I just wanted to know how does it look to get this kind of job and if the salary is much better than salary of pilots working in majors.
Chris, could you tell me some of the stories you have heard? I find it quite interesting to know how celebrities behave in relation to pilots.
And sorry for my english, Claudia.

Soonsa,

I cannot mention names, but I have flown many different celebrities. Many of them tend to treat pilots and flight attendants as the hired help and can be quite rude. They done behave as anything “in relation to the pilots” because they usually do not speak to us, which is totally fine by me.

Now of course there are some celebrities that are very nice. Like anything, it runs the gamut.
