Continuing Schooling

Would it be possible after completing ATP’s commercial Pilot training program to continue their education through online school or a job while trying to build flight time?

Thanks,

Brandon

Brandon,

You can do as you like but know that you would not be able to continue your education online while instructing for ATP as that is a full-time commitment. If you wanted to get your degree working part-time elsewhere that’s your choice but know it will take that much longer to build your time.

I’d wait till getting hired at the Regionals.

Brandon,

Many, many pilots have doene exactly what you suggest. In fact, you can get college credit for your flight training. Checkout this link: College Credit for Airline Career Pilot Students / ATP Flight School

Brandon,

I know a few instructors who were continuing their education during their time build; some made it work, some had to put it to the side. The last thing you want to do is not be able to give your students 100% effort and time when you have other things going on.

Chris posted a link that you can earn some college credits post ACPP completion, I’d check into that if you can. How many credits have you already completed?

Brandon,

Theoretically yes, if you have the time management skills and a small student load. However, your commitment to your students must come first. You don’t want to jeopardize the CFi position and opportunities with ATP pathway programs by getting released from your duties.

If I were you, I would wait until you’re at a regional to start working towards your degree: then your time is your time.

I appreciate all of your replies. To answer Brady’s question after this semester which concludes in a few weeks I will have nearly 40 or so college credits after one year of college. After doing a lot of research recently and talking to other ATP instructors at my Admissions Flight this past weekend. I think it is best to commit to ATP full time build my time and be committed to being a CFI or whatever position I may find myself in. And then resume schooling while at a regional.

Thanks again for all of your responses and inputs I greatly appreciate it.

Brandon,

That is not a bad plan at all and one that many before you have done. Please keep us up to date as your schedule, etc.
