Catalina airport is always a doozy. Optical illusion makes it seem the runway drops off a cliff (well it kind of does in reality). In between Long Beach and the island you have lots of ocean to practice stalls.
Buffalo Burger at DC3 airport restaurant is pretty darn good and on the weekends you get to see all types of cool planes landing/taking off/parked
Very cool
San Diego is my favorite. The approach itself is interesting and the city is a great city to walk around, plus my favorite Mexican restaurant in the US is there.

I’ll jump on the San Diego train. $5 round trip bus ride from SD to Coronado for some early morning surf before my flight? Yes, please.
