Even if we know we won’t begin the program from a year or two, should we take the FAA Medical Exam required to fly to make sure we pass the exam before saving all the money needed? Not sure when the appropriate time to take the exam would be.
A good idea what I’m doing is seeing my doctor first, then the FAA Medical examiner get right with him cause (1 it’s cheaper plus it gives you time to sort out what issues you might have and (2 It’s saves you some money.
Personally I don’t think it’s necessary unless you’re aware of some potential issues (vision, hearing, blood pressure or prior other health issues). If you have some concerns or doubts then by all means sooner is better but if you’re healthy and everything seems to be fine I’d save the money.
