Hello all! I’m currently looking into becoming a commercial airline pilot, but am unsure where to go for it. I’m familiar with the AA Cadet Program and plan on applying, but is there another credible option? I live in Florida and know there are several flight schools located around the state, but my fear is that I will have trouble being hired if I get my commerical pilot certificate from them.
I’d really appreciate any information or help on this! Thank you all in advance.
Hey Audrey! Jordan here. I’m from Florida as well. I went to UF and decided to do my flight training through ATP flight school. That’s actually the forum you’re on right now. All of the mentors and the majority of posts here are from alumni or current students. Where you train and get your commercial certificate will in NO way affect whether or not you get a job. Almost every avenue of this industry is currently hurting for pilots. Even if that was the case, ATP has been around and producing hundreds of airline pilots every year for decades now. It’s a very reputable school. Feel free to post if you have more specific questions. If you share more about where you’re at and your personal goals, the folks on here can probably be of more help to you. Good luck!
Audrey,
There are many credible options. Funny you use the word credible. While the cadet program was created by AA, the fact is it’s been in operation less than a year and has yet to produce a single successful airline pilot. As Jordan pointed out, this is ATPs forum and as such we are all somewhat biased but the fact is ATP pioneered the airline pilot training program over 30yrs ago and has been producing 1,000s of successful airline pilots during that time (over 600 in the last 12mos alone).
I recommend you take a look at the FAQ section and do some more research.
