Getting hired on at an airline

Sorry for so many questions, but I am needing to know the answer to this. If I get hired at an airline, about how long is it until I’m flying as a FO in the airplane from the day I’m hired.

Wyatt,

No sorry needed but I am curious why you are “needing to know” this one? Anyway Once you get hired they’ll give you a class date (usually anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 mos depending on the airlines need and schedule). Newhire training is approx. 2 mos again depending on the airline the equipment etc. After successfully completing training you’ll be scheduled for IOE (Initial Operating Experience) where you’ll fly approx. 20-30hrs with a check airman. After that you’ll be a fully qualified FO.

Adam,
Thank you for the quick response. I was wanting to know instead of needing to know. Sorry for poor word choice on my part and the misunderstanding. So when I am hired on I can expect to start flying about 2 1/2 months after that point from my understanding.

No worries, just bustin’ chops

Yeah that sounds about right.

My date of hire is 8/8/16, and I just started flying a week ago. 2.5 months is pretty normal.
