Getting started without a degree

Hello, I’m 22 years old and recently decided to begin my aviation career. I have completed 1.5 years of college, but have not pursued a degree because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Since finalizing my decision on becoming a pilot, I was wondering what field I should pursue a degree in. Thank you in advance for your help!

Jessica,

While Major airlines desire a degree they really don’t care the field of study. Aviation is a great career and I never try and discourage anyone but it’s not for everyone and sometimes doesn’t work out. For those reasons I always recommend studying something else you might enjoy as a backup plan since again the type of degree doesn’t matter.

what do you think a good major would be in since pilots do get a lot of time off later in their career?Something that could be useful and potentially another source of income

Yassin,

Anything you want. The majors want to see a four year degree but they don’t
care what the major is in. Pick whatever interests you.
