Interesting to say the least.
I would like to see this study done on a more diverse group of pilots. 44 current or prior military pilots almost seems too convenient of a sampling to produce an even more convenient outcome for the author of this poorly misguided article.
Emotional intelligence ties into human factors, CRM, leadership, mentorship, and every other soft skill that is already a focal point of modern aviation.
With all due respect to those who serve, deducing every American pilot down to a tiny sampling of military pilots is a gross misrepresentation.
Now that I am done venting, emotional intelligence in aviation has its place and should be studied more, MUCH more.
