Medical Certification with DUI

I recently went to get my Class 1 Medical Certification and as expected due to a DUI 6 years ago was unable to obtain until the FAA goes through their approval process.

Can anyone who has been through this process let me know what information/documentation they requested so I can begin obtaining the pertinent information to reduce this process time?

Every case is different but in general they want EVERYTHING you can possibly obtain on the arrest. If you don’t provide it, they’ll have to look for it which will prolong the process.

Can I become an airline pilot with a dui?

Joshua, I had to go through it a couple of months back. Here is part of an email from my AME of what I needed to submit: Arrest record or some other document that gives the breath alcohol level. If the breath alcohol level was 0.15 or less I can issue the certificate. If greater than 0.15 or if there is no record of the breath alcohol level I might have to defer certification. The FAA will likely still issue the certificate but they will need to review everything and determine if you can …

It could also be the time of your case my AME said the FAA usually wants to see a time from if 7 years from when the incident happened. Every case is different But hopefully everything goes smoothly for you in the process.
