New married pilots

Hello Im just curious if me and my current wife were to start this program at the same time would it be possible that we would be able to arrange our schedules the exact same so that we are always flying together? I am very interested in getting into a career as a pilot and so is she, but not if we are unable to see each other frequently. Anyone know any possible solutions?

Cole,

If you think about it, if you both start at the same time, you’ll have the same seniority, both of you will be FOs and therefore you’ll NEVER fly together.

I do know a few couples who do not that comes after many years AND one of them making the decision (and sacrifice) not to upgrade. And that’s IF you both do well AND both get hired at the same airline.

Long short there’s ALOT of ifs in this scenario so I wouldn’t count on it.

Cole,

No, this is not possible. As students, ATP will set your schedule based on what is best for your learning experience, not your personal life. As students, it really would not be good for you to fly together anyways. You need exposure to other pilots and to learn how to fly with people you do not know outside of the cockpit.

As for the airlines, Adam covered that. It will be almost impossible to match your schedules up. If you both want to be pilots, plan on spending some serious time apart.
