Old enough to be a B-727 Flight Engineer?

Anyone here old enough to remember and want to be a Flight Engineer on B-727’s? Or even DC-10’s?

Darrell,

I’m definitely old enough but since this is my second career and I had a late start I didn’t. However I’ve gotten with many pilots who served as FEs on both and have very fond memories.

Darrell,

I rode on a FedEx 727 for one flight, it was interesting to see the dynamics of a three person crew. My father was an engineer on the 727, he enjoyed it, but was very glad to get to a flying position.

I remember in the 90’s when I first started my aviation career on the Maintenance side of the house. I was working my tail off to get my licenses via the civilian sector so I could get my FE ticket. Well that all stopped as we know and of course the 727 was being phased out heavily at that time as well. Always wanted to sit in that seat and work the gauges. Must just be the Maintenance Guy in me I guess.
