Preparing For Private Pilot's License Training

Hello,

I am currently a 16 year old high school junior and I am starting flight training this March to work towards my private pilot’s license. I want to prepare myself as much as possible so I can get through it quickly to save money. Any advice on what I can study at home to become familiar with what will be taught in the training?

Thanks,
Ben

Ben,

Actually, I advise you to start studying for the written test. This will free up time for you once you start training. Sporty’s Study Buddy is a reliable source. You’ll just need an instructor to give you an endorsement before you take the test. The instructor will want to see proof that you’re ready to take the test before they issue the endorsement. Sporty’s has practice tests you can take. Read through these instructions: https://atpflightschool.com/faqs/acpp-prep-written-knowledge-tests.html. Only difference for you is you’ll have to get an endorsement from your instructor, not ATP. Still, that link gives you an idea of how to go about the process on your own.

If you want more to study, I recommend King Schools, the PHAK and AFM.

Ben,

I second Tory on the written test. I am also a fan of the King Schools video series. You can usually find them for less on eBay, but do not get one that is too old.
