Regionals Paying for flight school

Which regional airline will help me pay for flight school part 61 or 141?

Some regional airlines offer a signing bonus while others offer “tuition reimbursements” while you are a CFI…which is really the same thing. You will need to do some research to figure out who offers what and which schools have reimbursement programs negotiated with flight schools.

This isn’t really “paying for flight school,” however. You will still need to fund all your training up front and plan to target a regional that is still offering bonuses when it comes time to research an airline to fly for.

This isn’t really any different than getting a job after college. If you have a valued set of skills and a company wants those skills, they may offer a signing bonus. Paying for college, however, is on you.

Joseph,

Pretty much all of the Regionals are offering Tuition Reimbursement but that’s AFTER you’re done with training and have approx 500hrs total time.

Joseph,

There are no airlines that help directly pay for flight school. There are many that help repay flight school loans, all of which can be found on ATP’s tuition reimbursement page on their main website.

Curious if anyone has done the envoy reimbursement with the $500 every 100 hours after 500…do you get a check/deposit or does it just go directly to the back for load pay back? And can you defer the reimbursement for envoy and just have it as a lump sum for your $18k (split 10/8) signing bonus when you get hired?

Bryce,

The tuition reimbursement money is payed directly to your lender and acts as a credit towards your monthly payment. You can defer the reimbursement and take it all as a signing bonus instead, although I believe the tax implications might not be as favorable this way.
