What do you all think about this? Would have they been able to do this if they actually had a union?
The union would have nothing to do with it as long as the work rules are still followed.
As for what I think it’s the airline looking for a loophole that I’m not sure the FAA will allow. I actually think it’s more of a ploy to push the issue and force the FAA to consider other options to alleviate the shortage like reducing the hour requirement and raising the retirement age.
I do not see them in any way getting approved for this. It seems like an attempt to me to try and change the conversation on this topic. The bottom line is that there has not been a US airline related fatality since the 1,500 hour rule was implemented. It is hard to argue with success like that.
