Training Support Specialist -> ATP Program

Has anyone heard about this and could detail what this program entails? “Ask about our Training Support Specialist -to- ATP Student -to- Airline Pilot Career Path Benefit!”

Ben,

No clue but it sounds like there’s a path from this position to becoming a student. I’d contact admin and “ask” as directed.

Adam

Ben,

Yes! When you work for ATP for 18 months in select positions (training support being one of them), you can qualify for guaranteed, 2% fixed interest rate financing with no co-signer required. This would allow you to become an ATP student and enroll in the Airline Career Pilot Program after the 18-month commitment. When you apply for the position, let them know that you’re interested in the career path.

Addison,

Wow! That’s definitely something to think about. Who is the loan provided by?
Also, I noticed that only some locations have openings for TSS. Do all locations have TSS (and some just don’t need them right now), or do only certain locations employ TSS?
Additionally, is there any webpage with more information on this program? I assume this is a fairly new program because I haven’t seen anything about it beforehand.

Ben

Ben,

When you apply, they will give you more information on logistics (provider, terms, etc.)! Most locations have a TSS.

Wow, this is a great opportunity for those that have difficulties securing the loan! No longer a dead end, but a pathway.

David,

Congratulations! Please do update us as you go along as you will be the first from the forum to go through the TSS program.

How has the TSS position been? Im looking to apply for this position, any pointers or advice?

Charles,

The program varies a lot based on the location you will be working. Any idea where you will be applying?

David

I was looking to apply at Jacksonville Fl location. The posting is now gone and non of the other TSS positions mention the 18-month TSS to-student program. Do you know why that would be?

Hi Charles,

I’ve followed up with the correct person to see if the Jacksonville, FL TSS position is available. We do have an opening at our corporate HQ (Jacksonville Beach) in training support as another option as well.

Regardless, the 18-month TSS to-student program is still an option - just mention that you’re interested when you apply!

Hope this helps,
Addison

Charles,

Just following up on this - the JAX Training Support Specialist position is still available.

Good morning,

I was very excited reading this thread, I’ve been looking at ATP for a while now and reading lots of different topics. This one really jumped out because financing is a big concern for me. I have no aviation background but I was hoping to take advantage of this great opportunity with my goal of becoming a pilot in mind. I saw that the position description stated “Aviation experience, specifically an understanding of FAA Certification, required” and I as I mentioned, I have no experience. I applied anyways in hopes that I might still have a shot but was sent an automated rejection message.

I say all of that to ask this: What sort of entry level position out there might give me the sort of experience ATP is looking for in the TSS position? I also saw in the description “Private Pilot Certificate or Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate preferred” so I am wondering if that would constitute “aviation experience” even though it is not employment related?

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
John Taylor

John,

I will be honest, I really am not sure what ATP is looking for, beyond the stated qualifications. I think your best bet is to apply like you did and see if you get a call. If not, maybe reach out to ATP directly and ask them.

John,

With that description, Private Certificate preferred, could you start there? Get your private with a local school which works towards your ratings and helps qualify you for that position.

Then if all goes well and you get the position, it’s your responsibility to stay current for the two years of employment but you know financing is secured and you could start the program credit private.

Just a thought…

John,

I would reach out to the Admin team regarding any clarifications for job postings. They are the ones who review all applications and conduct interviews so it would be in your interest to reach out to the hiring team. Having the “private pilot or aircraft dispatcher” I would presume important in answering questions with prospect students and DPEs if there is a checkride.
