Understanding base stations

Hi… I just wanted to find out, are pilots schedules based on where they are based(living) or they could have to take off from any airpot their airline operates from?

Here’s what I mean. For example, expressjet operates from about five different locations TX,OH,EWR etc. I live in New Jersey, if I become a pilot for them, would my schedule only have me take off from EWR or sometimes I’d have to start from TX and if so how’s that possible? Would I need to transport myself to TX before starting. Thanks

All of your trips will start and end where you are based. If for some reason the company does need you at another base, they will provide confirmed travel, known as “deadheading”.
