Why Atp?

Don,

Here are some apps that I have downloaded onto my personal iPad:

  1. LiveATC (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS)
  2. FAR/AIM
  3. Flight Test X20 (Sheppard Air)
  4. Hold Trainer
  5. WindTunnel Free
  6. PA-44

An app that you may want to consider is a crosswind calculator.

I’m glad to hear things are rolling along for you.

Brady

Awesome, downloading those apps now!
Thanks Brady!

Don,

It sounds like all the pieces are coming together. FYI, you do not need the medical for the intro flight, just to reserve the start date.

Chris

Update!

Admission flight set up for Nov 5th, finalizing financing with sallie mae. Should finalize a start date within the next week.

Looking forward to getting back in the air

Don

Excellent! Let us know how it goes and if there’s anything else we can do to help.

Adam

I absolutely will, I keep reading the forums and getting a good laugh here and there. Planning on the 100hr multi as well so that will be a awesome experience.

Don

Woooo, glad you took our advice. Trust the process and the leap will be worth it! Please keep us posted as you progress, exciting times.

Brady

Don,

Great! Glad to hear it. Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with as you prepare for your start date.

Hannah

Adam, Brady and Hannah,

I absolutely will!

Im just playing the waiting game until all the appointments happen. The process does not account for relocation, so moving is first and foremost right now. A tip for anyone who reads this thread, research housing in the area you plan on training.

Actually writing this I did have a question. The intro flight, what should I prepare for? Should I prepare for this as I would an interview?

Don

Adam

Don,

The Admissions flight is in no way meant to evaluate your skills as a pilot, you currently should not posses any piloting skills. The flight is a way to evaluate your ability to listen and learn, which I am sure you will be just fine at as you have sought out and accepted our advice. The flight is also a time for you to interview ATP and make sure that they are the correct school for you. I highly recommend taking a look at this link:

Chris

Done, and thank you

Don

Thanks, looking at that now!

Don

Well excitement turned to disappointment today. Cosigner for financial aid backed out. Looks like this dream just died. Thank You for all the advice that you have given. I hope everyone has a safe and successful career. Maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to be a passenger on one of your flights.

Don

Don,

Don’t give up, seek opportunities. In June, ATP released this opportunity for someone to work at ATP as a Training Support Specialist in return receive benefits of lower rates without a cosigner. Maybe this would help you if you can’t find another cosigner?

As John Wooden said, “Don’t give up on your dreams, or your dreams will give up on you.”

Brady

Don

Brady is much kinder than I am. I’m hoping this is just a knee jerk reaction and you’re just really bummed but honestly if that’s all it takes to end your dream you really weren’t that invested in it. Don’t misunderstand, I’m well aware that finances can be a major obstacle to flight training but there are many people who have overcome it. Might not be tomorrow, next week or even next year but if that is/was truly your dream it won’t be crushed so easily.

Adam

Don,

If it truly is your dream to be an airline pilot, you will not let something small like this stop you from accomplishing your dream. There are other paths to becoming a pilot. They might take longer and be more work, but they are doable. I suggest visiting your local flight school and seeing what they have to offer.

Chris

Don,

As others have said, it’s a bump in the road but don’t let it make you turn around all together. Applying for the TSS position is a good start. Then explore one rating at a time on a budget while saving and nursing good credit.

Hannah

Don,

Surely there must be other options? At 36 the dream isn’t completely lost. Is it?

Between finding another co-signer, saving, finishing your PPL, revisiting the conversation with your co-signer after demonstrating your desire by obtaining a PPL…

Tory

Don, how’s your ATP progress going? Look, I was 39 when I started ATP. No co-signer as I am a first generation immigrant. Needed to apply for two separate loans. Good credit but very few assets to my name. I kept pushing. I hope you don’t give up on a dream if it is truly yours…
