First year regional pay

First year regional pay

Hey I was wondering if there were any first year officers flying for regionals that could tell me how much they are making for the year. I’ve seen a pilot on YouTube talk about how pilots are making up to 70 and 80,000 on their first year flying for the regionals because the demand for pilots has grown and just wanted to see how true that was.
Thanks!

Diyor,

It’s been a few years since I was a newhire at a Regional and fortunately the past has gone up considerably. It is not however in the $70-80k range. First year at most Regionals is in the upper $30s to 40 range. What people are referring to when they say $70-80 is they’re including a variety of hiring bonuses that are available due to the demand that can get you up to those numbers but it’s not technically “pay”.

Diyor,
The pay scales are posted on airline Pilot central for each regional. Generally speaking they range from $39/hr- $51/hr. Now multiply that rate by a typical line holder average of 87 hours a month… you’ll get the rough yearly salary. Of course you’d have to subtract a good percentage for taxes and may get a bit of performance bonus and per diem but that’s a rough estimate. $40-50k is the ball park though…

Diyor,

Regional | AirlinePilotCentral.com has all of the payrates listed for each airline. If you click on any airline, at the bottom of the page is a calculator. Slide the controls to match first year pay. If you can find the minimum credit hours for a particular airline, adjust the Credit Time to match. If not, just leave that at $75.

Leave the percentage at 1%.

Bid Periods: 1 represents estimated monthly gross pay.
Bid Periods: 12 represents estimated yearly gross pay.

For example, SkyWest first year FO pay is $46/hr. Minimum guarantee is 87. Estimated monthly gross is $4,002. Annual is $48,024. This does not include the hiring bonus or any extra flight time exceeding 87 hours.

ATP also did the work for you and lists first year pay, including bonuses, for several regionals: Regional Airline Pilot Pay / ATP Flight School.
