Do you just submit the days that you want off after already seeing your line for that month? So if you see you have 4 or so days off in a row, can you add your vacation time on to the end of that to get the most time off you can or do you submit vacation slips ahead of time and then you get your line but with those days blocked of and potentially have work butting right up to your vacation? I don’t know if that makes sense…

No. At most airlines you bid for vacation towards the end of the year for vacation the following year. You would then bid for days off to extend your vacation. Whether or not you get them is based on your seniority.

We pre bid our vacation at the start of the year, for the entire year. So we know our vacation weeks before we do our monthly bidding. So if you want to extend your vacation days, you need to bid for days off prior to the start of your vacation, or after the end of it.

To add, at my airline pilots with less than 5 years of service get up to two weeks Vaca. 5 or more years, up to 4 weeks.
