Step 1

Trevor,

It is pretty much a no-brainer. It won’t “help” you get a CFI job at ATP since ATP GUARANTEES it’s students CFI jobs regardless of which program you select. The 100hr Program is specifically for students who DO NOT plan to instruct for ATP since ATP instructors all build more than enough ME time instructing.

Trevor,

I absolutely recommend that you do the 40 hour multi program, there is really no compelling reason to do otherwise. Save your money. Your education and your licenses will be exactly the same.

Chris

Perfect! Thank you both!

Cheers to you both. I’ve been a wallflower, but I’ve learned a lot.

Hi Chris,
Just circling back on this thread - is your opinion the same today as it was in 2017 - that the 40 hour multi program is sufficient and you recommend that over the 100 hour? Assume it is, but things can change…

Deborah,

It might be past Chris’ bedtime so I’m gonna chime in.

If your plan is to flight instruct for ATP than the standard program is more than adequate as you’ll have the opportunity to build additional multi engine time. If however you think you might want to go a different route to build time (light cargo, small commuter, bush flying) or even instruct somewhere that doesn’t offer multi instruction, you might want to consider the 100hr option. This is to ensure you’ll have the multi time to not only easily meet the requirements for all the Regionals, but also enough to qualify for many non-Regional corporate or cargo gigs. It’s all about options.

Great, thanks for clarifying. Standard it is.

Deborah,

Still awake, just not as fast on the draw as Adam

Absolutely, I still recommend the forty hour program, for the reasons that Adam stated.
