I think this thread might help. I was in the Navy Reserves for 4 years, and during that time the drills really were 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks of training per year, but the month I got out my unit got word that they were deploying for 1 year, so it does happen. I would recommend your son get his bachelor’s degree first, however. Good luck!
