FAA medical?

Hey guys,
I am new to the community and am planning on getting my medical taken care of before I step foot into anything. About 5 and a half years ago, I was charged with a possession of marijuana (please no hate). Since I was a first-time offender, the court let me complete a pre-trial diversion program which caused me to do a few community service hours, a drug class, and ultimately got the charge dismissed. It does however show on my record still. (the charge plus the dismissal) I am aware I will have to select YES on 18v. I have not been convicted of anything else on my record ever since.
What are my chances of getting my medical?
Thank you guys in advance.

Sejal,
None of us here are AME’s so we can’t tell you an answer. However, the best advice we can give you is to be honest and disclose it. Hopefully the fact that it was over five years ago and you have no other incidents on your record, that could play in your favor. Do keep in mind though, getting your medical
would only be your first hurdle. You will have to disclose it on every job application throughout your career as well.

Thank you Hannah for your response

Chances? Don’t know. Possible? Yes. But you will have to jump through some hurdles and no guarantees.

Tory

Sejal,

You’re going to want to reach out to an AME like Hannah and Tory both mentioned, you can find your local AME using this link: Find an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) (faa.gov), and clicking "Search for an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME).
