When I was in high school i made the dumb decision to fish without a license, and being out of state I just paid the fine, so now I probably have a misdemeanor on my record. Any thoughts on that affecting my chances of getting hired at either a regional or a major? Would it being 7 years prior and being a fishing violation and having an otherwise clean record and good resume’ help my case at all?
As long as you take responsibility for this mistake and don’t get in any more trouble it will most likely not affect your chances of getting hired at either level. I, nor can anyone else, can predict certainty, but I don’t see it being an issue. If you’re still concerned, you can call the airline’s recruiting office and ask them directly.
I wouldn’t worry one bit about this. It was a small, high school mistake that was probably a civil fine and not a misdemeanor. Just explain what you learned and be sure to own it, you will be fine.
