Getting started for women

Is there any programs only a year long that bring in an income above 16$ or can be fast paced? Where is the best place to look if your looking to start immediately but need financial assistance or can pay back most of the costs same year? Is there any good woman programs in michigan and do the costs vary? How much education climbing any necessary ladder can you achieve in a year?

Felicia,

There ARE programs that will get you done in a year (ATPs Airline Career Pilot Program for one).

Do well in the program and you’ll be hired as a Flight Instructor that will pay you approx $30k+ a year.

I’m not aware of any programs specifically for woman (nor even sure why you think there would be?). Flight training is flight training.

Not sure what “education climbing” is but as I said, the complete program is 12mos and if successful you’ll have everything you need to be a professional pilot.

Felicia,

I think you have some serious misunderstandings about flight training and the and the airline industry.

There are no programs only for women, flying skills are not specific to men or women, you can either fly or you cannot. Furthermore, airlines and flight schools do not discriminate on the basis of gender.

Almost no flight school offers financial assistance, these are business that need to be able to make money so that they can invest back into the flight school. The vast majority of students finance their flight training. ATP is a great school for financing training as they work with several different lenders.

I am not aware of any flight programs that pay people to be students.

I am sorry, but I do not understand your last question at all, please restate it.

Chris

Felicia,

I’ll be the first to admit, I’m confused on the income above $16 sentence. Are you inquiring about the hourly income at which you will receive while instructing, or what you’ll be making at the airlines?

The best place to look for flight training that created partnerships with financial lenders, is flight schools such as ATP (and that’s why I assume you’re presently here). ATP has created partnerships with credit lending companies, such as Sallie Mae, to provide the connection to attending the ACPP.

I am not familiar with any specific programs for women [only women].

If you can elaborate more on the questions, I think we could give more direct answers or recommendations, if that’s what you’re seeking.

Felicia,

A few things, this forum is sponsored by ATP and all the mentors are alumni of the Airline Career pilot program. It is a fast paced program with a 9 month timeline after which you could start instructing making more than $16/hr. However, most people require a loan to finance the cost of training. Once you make the initial investment and successfully complete the program there are many tuition reimbursement and signing bonus available to help pay off the loan.

As for programs to support female aviators, there is Women in Aviation the official group and the “unofficial” Facebook group called FAST “Female Aviators Sticking Together”. Both places will connect you with other female pilots in all phases of their aviation careers. There are a few scholarships floating around both groups but they are highly competitive.
