I have Glaucoma in my right eye and can barely see anything at all out of of it, can I become a pilot?

So as the title says that is my question. I have glasses and with the glasses can see 20/20 out of my left eye. Now to be honest I’m expecting that I can’t become a pilot with these I guess I would call them affects or whatever. Now my other question is ok so I can’t become a pilot what else could I do in aviation. I’m not too sure of all the careers that are available in this field and really would appreciate some help. I was just talking with a friend about how I would like to speak with some real pilots about this stuff. What other careers could I do in aviation. I would like a resource that would help a book or magazine maybe a website. Anything at all that could help me. I just am so highly interested in anything aviation and if I can’t be a pilot I’d like to explore other opportunities. If you have questions please ask I’ll answer honesty, and I mean as far as my background and anything else. Thanks for reading please reply and I know I appreciate any and all replies.

David,

First you should consult an AME (Aviation Medical Examiner) as you may be able to get a waiver to fly. As far as other jobs there area hundreds. Dispatcher, ATC, Flight Attendant, ground/ramp etc., not to mention airlines are business with advertising, accounting, marketing. Really comes down to your skill set and interest.

But again if you really want to fly talk to an expert.

David,

The only person that can answer a question like this is a FAA medical examiner. Us trying to answer would be guessing at best.

As for other careers in aviation, the possibilities are really endless. Just go to an airline’s website and look at the careers page, there will be dozens of positions listed.
