I was wondering if anyone has been through something similar. I had taken anti depressants for a month about 2 years ago. One and only time. When I went to obtain my class 1 medical, my application was deferred due to being on antidepressants. FAA has requested to get a psychiatric evaluation. I have tried to find a psychiatrist within aviation and it has been pretty difficult. I was able to find one on my own and it costs $2000 to get the evaluation. To try to locate someone else, I was recommended to go through HIMs AME. Are there any recommendations from anyone who may have gone through something similar?
Juls,
My understanding is a HIMS AME is the way to go but it can be costly. There are a number of threads on the subject. Just do a search for “anti-depressants”, HIMS, or deferral and you’ll see some good conversations on the subject.

Juls,
I’ve been through this process. All of the specialists that the FAA wants you to see will most likely be out of network which explains the high cost. Unfortunately, this is the only way to get through this process.
