November brought me to my one year and month anniversary at Piedmont. While I had many deadhead flights this month, December is an action-packed month with a projected flying schedule of over 70 hours of flying.
After concluding my first year at Piedmont Airlines, I went back to the classroom for ‘continue qualifications’ (Piedmont calls this CQ - aka “recurrent”). Even though it was only 3 days of classroom and simulator, I got to hone in my previously learned knowledge and skills, while building upon them to learn new techniques and further my knowledge set. I have been more than pleased with the training department at Piedmont.
I was fortunate to meet with high schoolers at a local career dinner that were interested in aviation. In October, I was approached by a representative from a career services team that organizes “a look into a field of interest,” and aviation was this time around. It was awesome to meet with future aviators and discuss the current and outlook for the future of the aviation industry. I was able to share my journey when I attended ATP and a day in the life as an airline pilot.
