Good morning, depending on where everyone is from I guess, but I did have a question about prior military and getting into a career airline. My question is would there be any military related disabilities that would hinder getting into a career airline job? Thanks for the help!
Shay,
I am not prior military. What I can tell you is that all airline pilots have to be able to obtain a FAA First Class Medical. To do this, you will need to report all of your medical conditions to the FAA. For example, if you are claiming PTSD to the military, you will need to report the same to the FAA.
There are many conditions that can prohibit the issuance of a First Class Medical, but there are also many others where the FAA will just ask more questions. The only way to really find out is to schedule an appointment with a FAA Medical Examiner.

Shay,
We’re just pilots here. If you’re concerned with a condition you have from your time in service, you can make an appointment to speak with an AME. Applying for a first class medical is anywhere from $100-$200 and starts the ball rolling. I’d just request a clinic visit to gather information before taking any further steps.

Shay,
You should consult with an AME for your medical questions, we are not doctors. You may find an AME through this link:
If everything checks, you will apply for a FAA First Class Medical Certificate through the MedXpress form:
