Quick Question about ATP's Airline Career Pilot Program

Hello,
I’m currently a little far out from the flight school stage of my career but I have a question regarding degrees and the college I should go to for them. At the moment I am in an early college, earning an AA while also earning my diploma in 4-5 years together. After, I plan to go to earn a bachelors in aviation or something similar. I was wondering if the program offered by ATP listed in the topic requires that you have this degree before attending the program. Also any tips or warnings would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tyler

Tyler,

ATP requires a 2yr degree (or equivalent work experience) or you to have your Private Pilot license. I encourage you to visit the FAQ section of this forum as there’s tons of useful information.

Tyler,

ATP requires you to have two years of work experience, two years of college, or a PPL. There is no requirement to have an aviation degree. In fact, I would recommend not getting one as it is putting all of your proverbial eggs in one basket.

Take a look at the FAQ section, there is a lot of good information there.

Hello again,
If I want to become an airline pilot for a major, (say American or Delta for example), it is my understanding that a degree is needed in an aviation related field. When using the ATP program a bachelors is still required, right? If so, when in your opinion would be the best time to get this degree.
Thanks

Tyler,

PLEASE take a look at our FAQ section and do a little reading. There’s tons of great information on there.

Short answer is ATP is a flight training program where you will earn your licenses and ratings. As for your degree when is best is when is best is for you.
