Simulator training

During your training, if you don’t have access to a plane because it’s in use, or if you have a “day off” of training, are you allowed to get into a simulator? I would think if no one had it scheduled to be used it may be a good way to still get familiar with the plane, practise landings and take off etc.
Thanks!

Yeah you can as long as it isn’t scheduled, like you said

Duke,

Yes, you can if nobody is scheduled for it. The simulators are good for instrument training, they are not really of much value for landings, take offs, etc. Even the fancy ones the airlines use are not really great for practicing landings.

Duke,

ATP students should have 24/7 access, long as no one else is in it.
