Typical first officer schedule, year one

What is the typical weekly schedule look like for a first year regional pilot? I know there’s a ton of variables involved with this, but in your own personal experience, how many days a week did you fly, hours a week you worked, flights made, etc.

Nick,

As you said there are simply too many variables. Chances are you’ll be on Reserve at least the first few months. Most airlines have a min 12 days off so that means you’ll be working 18 days a month which is 4-5 days a week average. Problem is you probably won’t be 4 on 3 off, could be 5 and 2 or 6 and 1 and then visa versa. Then there’s the question of how often will you actually fly? If you’re airline is properly staffed it could be not much, if not you could fly every day. Just too many variables.

That said to get an idea take a look at Tory’s schedule but go back to the beginning and you can see his from pretty close to when he started at Horizon.

Nick,

Here’s a screenshot of SEA based E175 FOs. This is the threshold between line holders and reserve pilots. There are 21 FOs under these pilots, all assigned reserve. This screenshot is just one example. The Q400 pilots have 4 more bases. Each base looks very different from one another.
