Am I too old to begin?

Good day everyone,

I am turning 42 years old in about 2 weeks and was considering entering the pilot world. I retired from the Marine Corps after 22 years and wanted to become a pilot. Should I be concerned of my age? I know pilots have to retire at 65 so I have plenty of time before that. Would love to hear thoughts.

This question gets asked A LOT (def one of the top 5). As the “old” second career guy (I started training at ATP when I was 39) I’m the one who most often fields it. The short answer is no, maybe, yes obviously depending on a) your age and b) your expectations for your career.
