Good evening! I just had a questions about how admissions work. I have an admissions flight this Sunday, so I was just wondering if that means that I’m in the program and I just have to wait for the admissions flight to schedule my start date or if someone else has to occur?
Provided you don’t start crying, throwing up, or just screaming “WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!” on Sunday and your financing has been approved, yes you should be able to schedule your start date after you complete the flight.
Thank you for the comment Adam. My financing has been approved and I have taken an introductory flight at another location before so I think I’m safe on the screaming, lol.
Gavin,
I just scheduled my class start date for July of next year. There was some back-and-forth on it as the previous policy stated they could only schedule classes out 9 months in advance, but with classes filling up so quickly, some 6 months out, they were able to override that policy and get me a start date - just some FYI if you run into any issues.

Brady,
The updated price of $2995 to reserve the class date was a bit of a kick in the pants - I’m pretty sure it used to be $995. I’ve also been noticing the overall cost of the program has been rising substantially over the past few months as it’s now $101k. I was told that classes are filling up 6 months in advance as well.
I’m curious, with the increases in prices and such, is there any expectation for CFI pay to increase? I think it has been stagnant for awhile - not that I’m complaining!
-Steve
Yes, the $2,995 is a higher price tag, but it was always subject to change even back from when I enrolled at $995 in 2019. I truly think if this is something you want to do, $2,995 is a better price because it will thin out those that are unsure (just my 4 cents - inflation increased my cents). I don’t know how much expenses or costs of operating ATP has, but I can’t image another flight school in the US that OWNS 528 airplanes… that averages to about 6 airplanes per training center (beats other schools).
CFIs and staff I believe got a raise earlier this year, with some more incentives included on being a SE or ME Lead Instructor.
Brady,
You don’t have to sell me on it - I’m already enrolled ha ! I was just saying it was a bit of a surprise as I hadn’t checked the page in awhile! I agree, the increased price for reserving a start date will probably help to weed out a few half-committed applicants.
I wasn’t tracking a CFI pay-raise - the site has listed $20.70 for quite a while - maybe it just hasn’t been updated

We’re not salespersons, we are graduates in the airlines because we trusted, followed and put the effort into ATP’s program. I just like stating facts, I’m a numbers and facts kind of individual.
I know some individuals “complain” about the pay of ATP on Facebook, Reddit, etc., but what they tend to forget is while teaching for ATP, you are ELIGIBLE for ALL PARTNERSHIPS and TUITION REIMBURSEMENT opportunities. I think some just complain to complain, but I may be wrong. When your student passes their checkride first attempt, you get a nice little incentive bonus. When you become a lead you’ll get a monthly bonus. There’s always opportunities to make a little extra cash while building flight time and working towards that Gold Seal Certificate (if desired).
Ah I’m glad you mentioned Gold Seal - my understanding is that requires an additional test? What is that test and is Sheppard the way to study for that one as well?
I think a big perk of CFI-ing for ATP is the amount of students and hours you can build quicker than a mom and pop spot - plus they’ve got locations like everywhere!
Thanks!
For the Gold Seal Certificate, you can complete either the IGI or AGI written test (there are obviously other prerequisites too for it). I recommend taking the IGI at the same time as the IRA and FII, given the same test bank.
Hey Gavin. Good too see you here!! There is a lot of good info in this forum. Best of luck to you with your training and career. Hopefully, we will cross paths someday.
