Does anyone know if it is possible to move to another flight school location within the same school (ATP) part way through your schooling?
I am looking to start flight school soon but will be moving to the east coast in about 6-8 months. I am wondering if this is possible or if I would need to finish school at the same location I started at?
While it may be possible I wouldn’t do it because it may not be possible when you want or need to. Your training is planned out from the day you start and depending on where your are in the training AND instructor availability there may not be an available slot and then what? The program is based on continuity and consistency in your training. Factor in moving can be one of the most disruptive things we can do and it’s not a great idea.
Id recommend you either delay the move or your training.
Why would you want to start over at a different location, learning all new airspaces, traffic procedures, instructors, training center, etc.? This is why we always recommend attending the ATP location that is most convenient for YOU. The other concern with moving in the middle of the program is that you take away from the core values of ATP. Your integrity, training around consistency and professionalism, you will have some sort of gap that will not only delay your program, but potentially set you back from all the building block and foundation set earlier in training.
Either delay a start date or take the risk, that’s my suggestion. However, delaying a start date may lose you out on seniority and the coolest job (IMO) if you were to wait…
It might be possible, but I would not recommend it. If a move is on your future, I would recommend waiting until after you have moved to begin your training. Moving is almost always more time intensive and stressful that we think it will be. I think it would be a huge distraction to your training program.
