Criminal Record Check For New Pilots

Hello,

Before I will commit to the airline pilot school, I like to know if I will be qualified for a job.

In Year 2000, I had a misdemeanor in a Joy Ride, I was 19 years old at the time. Then in 2004, I had another misdemeanor for a bar fight. Since 2004, I haven’t had a single speeding ticket. I been serving in military for the past 11 years and working in other government profession.

Do you think I have the chance in making in this new profession as a pilot?

Thank you

Art,

Short answer, you should have a good shot at the Regionals. The Majors could be more of a challenge. There are no guarantees but based on the info you’ve provided I believe it’s worth a shot.

Art,

Since it’s been 17 years since your last offense and you’ve proven you are worth the investment with your service I also think you still have a chance, but just to be sure I would recommend contacting the airlines directly for their thoughts.

Tory

Thank you guys for the response!

Be safe.

Art,

Honestly, I am not sure. Clearly you have turned your life around and made solid choices since 2004, that bodes well for you. I would recommend calling the recruiting departments of several regional airlines and asking them directly. The majors will be a harder sell. You need to keep your record perfectly clean from now on, just like you have been doing.

Chris

I’d say you’d be ok with Regional, key is to crush the interview. Can take an interview prep if not sure how you’d do.

Majors Mostly Require a 4yr degree. If you have one might be able to get there. Too many factors to say for sure.

Your about 40yrs old. Let me give a middle of the road potential timeline.

  • training: 9m-1.5yr. Maybe can hold part time job.
  • building time to 1500hr: 1yr-4yr (depends on airline hiring). $25-65k/yr. (Have friends that started flying 4yrs ago making $100K flying corporate).
  • Regional FO: 1.5yr-5yrs, $45-100k/yr
  • Regional CA: 1.5yr- Retirement (65yr old), $65-150k.
  • Corporate Pilot if you want: 5yrs (Retire @ 70) $65-150k/yr.

And I didn’t mention cargo or much about corporate flying either. Avg pilot salary is $125k, so if that’s something you can live with and have a passion for flying, why not go for it?

Potentially retire as a 10-15yr or more Capt at regional. Maybe get to major or fly corporate.

Hi Chris.

Thank you for taking time to answer my questions. I do have 4 year degree and if I do choose to go with the pilot career, this will be my retirement plan.

Flying always was my passion, but sometimes life throws different curve ball.

Thank you again for the feed back.

Thank you Chris for your time. Very much appreciate this feed back.

Alex,

Any time, let us know how else we can help you.
