Congrats David!
I know the start date isn’t what you wanted, but it’s happening. The journey will begin soon, buckle up! And start working on those writtens if you haven’t already.

David,
Awesome to hear the medical approval and start date in February. February 6th is better than February 7th.

Yup, that’ll be my job now till class starts
Thanks for sharing your experiences! I am in a similar situation. I got a DUI over 10 years ago. I was young, stupid, and reckless. I learned from my mistakes and have not had any other issues since. I am going through the process of getting my 1st class medical.
My court documents did not contain my BAC and my arrest records were purged. I received an official document from the police station stating that my files were purged. That document and all of my other paperwork was submitted to the FAA towards the end of November.
The AME told me that it would probably take 1-2 months. He said because of the amount of time since the incident and everything I’ve done since, I shouldn’t have anything to worry about. I’m at 5 weeks and some change. Hoping to hear back soon.
I contacted ATP and they told me I will probably have to wait 2 months to start the program once everything is in order. I’m just playing the waiting game at this point. Studying for the written exams in the mean time.
I have one question. Should I apply for my loan now, or wait for my medical certificate? My credit score is at 780. My mother (credit score above 800) agreed to consign if needed.
Thanks in advance,
Ben
Ben,
Credit approval is good for twelve months, so I see no harm in starting that process now. Just as long as you are able to jump on training as soon as you get the medical from the FAA.
Chris
Chris,
Thanks for the advice! Makes sense. That’s one more thing to check off the ATP to do list.
Ben
Ben,
Anytime. Let us know how else we can help you.
