FAA vs EASA

Hello,

I am going to get my PPL and other licenses through ATP, but I was wondering if anyone has any information or has looked into what it takes to transfer from FAA to EASA? I know they differ significantly, but any information would be appreciated!

Chris

Chris,

Significantly is an understatement. My understanding the conversion process is quite extensive and includes 14 knowledge exams that must be completed with a perfect score.

Long short if you want to fly in the EU, train there and earn your EASA licenses.

Chris,

Of course we believe ATP is the right path for most, but if you want to fly in Europe go get your ratings there. If you want to fly in the states, then ATP is the right choice. Don’t waste all that time and money to then have to do excess training to get them converted.

Chris,

Found a link doing a quick Google search, FAA to EASA conversion:

If you’re interested in flying in Europe, it would best be applicable to train there as regulations and requirements are different than here, in the US.
