Hi there! I was poking around Airline Pilot Central and was looking at pay scales for the different airlines. I noticed that there is a row for first year captain, which to my understanding is impossible. Is there any scenario someone would be paid a first year captain rate? I know at some regionals they have direct to captain hiring but I’ve never heard of that with the majors. Just something I was curious about. Thanks!

Not the norm but not impossible. Right now at a few Majors (mine Hawaiian and Delta), 717 upgrades are coming at less than one year so yes the rates apply hence why they’re there.
