He was in my new hire class at Skywest! Luckily he has some 737 time from Southwest but still… welcome to a new era in aviation.

You weren’t lying. Not impossible 
It’s great for pilots with a lot of 121 PIC time from a previous carrier. They have a short transition period and go right in to filling captain vacancies… as for new hires getting junior manned in to those spots, well that’s a different topic entirely.
