I am very curious about Pilot as career. I would love to hear from real pilots who are in commercial career, when is it late? When is it late to join flying school, get degree and job ?
Rocky,
I recommend you visit our FAQ section. You’ll find the answers to many commonly asked questions answered by current “real” airline pilots. Feel free to return with me specific questions.
As for when is “late” that really depends on your career expectations.
Adam
I have read some and I saw that I am not late yet. I am 19 years old, my career goal would be to fly commercial, better to say make living off of it. Thank you for answer mister Adam. Greetings
Rocky,
I have to ask, at 19, what makes you think you’re too late for anything other than maybe the HS prom?
Regardless take a look at this link, might help point you in the right direction:
Adam
Because I have never knew what I want to do, and whenever I find something I’m not sure if it’s the thing I wanna do forever, for living. Usualy for many things I wanted it was late like… basketball for example. Thank you for the link, I appreciate it very much, God bless.
Rocky,
Feeling that way in this industry will not set you up for success (in the career, or life)… I recommend taking a few introductory lessons at your local airport to see if flying is something you could foresee yourself doing.
Brady
Rocky,
I would recommend more than just one introductory flight. Go out to your local flight school and take several lessons, perhaps enough to solo an airplane, that should help you get a better idea of whether you want to be a pilot or not.
As an aside, it is perfectly normal to not yet know what you want to do for a living at age nineteen. I was around twenty before I decided on becoming an airline pilot.

This is exactly what I was going to say! Take a deep breath. You don’t have to have your life figured out just yet. Take an intro flight, research online and just start thinking of what careers most interest you. We wouldn’t recommend doing anything flying related until after you finish college anyway, so you have time!
