Instrument Checkride Pass!

Just passed my Instrument checkride today ! I did unfortunately bust it yesterday on a full scale deflection as a fault of my own for worrying too much about the 430’s in the archer and let my LOC go a full deflection. But lesson very much learned and rolling with the punches. Probably the biggest thing I learned from this is to not focus on the fact it’s a checkride and just fly like I know how and don’t get the good ol’ checkride brain and freak out over the little things the DPE might tell you :stuck_out_tongue: . And don’t let a bust stop you from continuing the flight if the DPE gives you the chance. Busted on the 2nd Approach and continued to do the Unpublished Hold DME arc and partial panel RNAV!

Off to crew cross countries!

Michael, congrats on passing the Checkride! I thought I was gonna bust my PPL Checkride and the DPE reminded me he wasn’t there to fail me but verify I’m safe and competent. Hopefully will stick with me for future checkrides!

Enjoy the crew phase!

Congrats Michael!

I almost busted my instrument checkride due to my brain malfunctioning that morning by struggling to answer the first oral question. After I got my brain operating the rest of the checkride went smoothly. We’re human and prone to make mistakes, but its how you pick yourself up by the boot straps and keep going is what determines your success.

Wishing you the best on your crew! I’m sure it will be a blast!

Michael,

Congratulations on passing the checkride. Now onto the next one!

Bravo, Michael!

Choosing to continue a check ride depends on the situation, and most importantly, the individual. Glad it worked out for you in the end.
