Do pilots get a pension and good medical
Angelica,
Pensions are gone but virtually all airlines provide a 401K with varying percents of matches. Additionally they also provide medical insurance. How good it is or not varies from airline to airline and how much you’re willing to contribute.
Adam
All pensions are gone, and that is not limited to the airline industry. The medical insurance is generally pretty good, although it was a lot better before Obama made it more “affordable”.
Chris
What are 401k matches like at your respective companies?
Timothy,
Hawaiian’s is a straight 15% whether you contribute or not.
Adam
Oh wow, must not be hard to maximize yearly contribution limits.
Not as a Capt no.
Adam
Timothy,
My airline puts in 16%, regardless of what we put in.
Chris
Thank you for the responses!
Horizon matches up to 6%. They also have an Employee Stock Purchase Program. Guaranteed 15% return.
Tory
UPS and FedEx pilots still have pensions (A Plan). New hires are still covered by it.
