Hello, I am a junior in highschool right now and I was wondering if anyone who had gone through Purdue’s Aviation Program has any tips. What did you do to stand out from everyone else and how can I do that? I am very involved in many clubs and even created my own. I’m in all honors and AP/ ACP classes through IU. There is an aerospace engineering class I could take next year but I don’t know if I should. I also have a 4.0 gpa weighted and like a 3.93 unweighted. I’m going to start getting my hours in this spring to get my private license but I just don’t know how I can be sure I’ll get into Purdue’s Flight School. Any tips will be greatly appreciated and I hope you all have a great week!
Blake,
The website is primarily designed for students wishing to attend ATP’s program. I would not expect you to find any Purdue grads on here.
That being said, all of us mentors are successful; airline pilots and none of us are fans of aviation college programs as they tend to be more expensive and very inefficient. 'what is driving you towards Purdue?
Blake,
The chances of finding a Purdue Aviation student on a forum that is sponsored by ATP (yes, it’s up there in the upper left hand of the browser) may be difficult, here. While I see your dead set on Purdue University, what makes you have that mindset? Would you consider a 4-year engineering degree from an accredited university elsewhere, then commit to a full-time flight training program like ATP?

Blake,
You’re basically walking in Chick-Fil-A asking about McDonalds burgers! We aren’t fans of that program but we can talk through your plan and see what you’re thinking! We’ve all been where you are…
Hannah
How dare you use a Chick-fil-A analogy. Should’ve used a Zaxby’s or something else…
