Hi Friends, pilots, students
In the cockpit, I understand one must be available/alert at all times and since literal lives are on the line, but I am avid reader, I read many books a year and was wondering If I can read while being up in the air? That would be great. Please let me know.

Virtually every airline’s manuals restrict activities to those relevant to your flight duties but I’d be lying if I said I’ve never seen people read.

We are prohibited from reading books in the cockpit. Now tell me, do you really want your pilot “all wrapped up in a great read” or do you want him/her alert and actively monitoring the airplane? Save the reading for the overnights and deadheads.
