Start Dates

Hey all,

I am graduating this week from university!! Woohooo!! Anyways, I am pretty set on starting my pilot career, and I have kept ATP as one of my options for some time now. I am currently comparing schools in my area and ATP to find the best suited for me.

One question I do have is: Is there a certain amount of time you have to wait to start? I see a lot of people saying “my start date is (3 months in advance)” or more. If I am going to commit to something like this, I want to get started, and get it started NOW! Is that possible?

Thanks!

Justin,

It really depends on the demand for your desired location at the time you book your class date. Sometimes there is a wait, other times there isn’t.

Remember, this is a complex program that involves scheduling a whole slew of variables. It takes time to set up for a student and most people plan a few months in advance as this is a major life decision.

Justin,

If you can’t start immediately I would use the time to get a jump on the written exams. Always a good idea to get them out of the way prior to starting.

Adam

Justin,

Both good advice from the other mentors. I just want to add that if Admissions accepted applicants without using statistics to determine the best time for you to start so that you get the quality attention you need, some students would inevitably be unassigned to an instructor. Just like Adam suggested, there are proactive ways to keep yourself busy in the meantime.
