Starting a career as a pilot with a criminal record

I am currently looking to see if I would be able to start a career as a pilot. I do have a dui on my record and a battery charge from 2014. I understand all ready that my chances are very unlikely, but I am very hard working and dedicated person and am willing to prove myself no matter what I’d have to endure to do so. I am just trying to find out if I even have a 1% chance in becoming a pilot. Please if you know for 100% fact I can not become a pilot please let me know but if I do have a chance even a small one please don’t say no because I am willing to hurdle all obstacles no matter how hard it will be if there’s a chance.

Thank you very much for your time and hope the best for everybody’s family and friends.
God Bless

Adam,

Honestly, I do not know. I can tell you that the airlines are not fans of DUIs or criminal charges. On the DUI front, if it has been more than five years, you are probably fine. The battery charge, especially if you were convicted, is another matter. I recommend contacting the recruiting departments of several regional airlines and asking them directly.

Adam,

If both charges were in 2014, and you’ve kept yourself clean since then and continue to do so you should be fine. I don’t believe you’ll have any issues flying for a Regional but the Majors are far more selective. I’m not saying it’s not possible, it just will be a greater challenge.

This again is contingent on you avoiding trouble and of course doing well in training.
